TMA

 

The Tejano Music Awards are like the Grammy's of Tejano Music. The TMA's were started in 1980. She dominated the awards even after her tragic death.

She Preformed "Enamorada de ti". One of her back up dancers in this performance was Don Shelton, who would later become a back up singer for her in 1994-1995! Jose Berhar said that he wanted her to perform a pop song to showcase her ability to sing pop to music execs for the crossover album.

She Preformed "Ya Vez" "Que Creias" & "Buenos Amigos" a duet with Alvaro Torres & presented an award. She wore 3 outfits, a Mariachi inspired bustier & pants, a gold lame outfit and a red hi lo dress.

She Preformed Part of "Como La Flor" & "Somos Tejanos"

When the group won Album of the Year, AB mentions in his speech that people said a Female couldn't make it in the Tejano market. This was the breakthrough year for Los Dinos.

"Selena" Lifetime Achievement ~ Abraham Quintanilla III

Starting with the 21st Tejano Music Awards, a NEW Award was added to the ceremony in memory of Selena called "THE SELENA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD". Her brother, A.B. Quintinalla was the first recipient.

This Award was presented to him by Texas Governor Rick Perry.

 


 

2010

 

30th Anniversary Tejano Music Awards included special awards for deccades, ofcourse Selena one a few!
